Item Cards Set #1: Alchemy Shop

So, this first set of item cards is finally done!

First and foremost, here's a preview of every item in the set:

I'm happy with where this ended up, but I don't think I got everything done that I wanted. In particular, the crystals gave me a lot of trouble, which is why there aren't more of them! About halfway through, I decided that I wanted to run Ryuutama once my gaming group wraps up its current game, so I added plants that matched the descriptions of some of Ryuutama's herbs (which is why an apple made it here instead of into a food set!)

Before I get into other sets, though, I want to address the current lack of form-fillable PDFs.

I'm still definitely working on them, but the process is frankly miserable. I've used LibreOffice to get all the fields in -- a feat in itself, honestly, with how inexplicably difficult it is to copy and paste the things -- but I cannot seem to get it to embed fonts no matter how I try. I'll continue to try things, but since these cards are a free resource, I can't justify spending money on a solution. If anyone has advice or recommendations, I would love to hear them!

Now, on the topic of other item sets...

I have a small list of things I'd like to try, but I'm also open to ideas!

My priority is to make cards that will make it fun (or at least less of a hassle) to track things that are on your character sheet temporarily. Consumables like potions and herbs were high on my list, and now I'm pondering things like treasure that you'd pick up as part of some loot and then sell or trade, or maybe even supplies that you'd buy in town and then use up as you adventure in the wilderness.

After that, though, I think equipment like armor, weapons, and trinkets would be fun. I'd love to spend time just taking suggestions for cool magical items to draw.

One miscellaneous idea I had was cards with illustrations of dungeon puzzle pieces like buttons, switches, and locks. You could flip them over to show that something was activated or unlocked or whatnot. A whole set of MacGuffins like fancy keys might be fun! Here's some concepts:

I also think for sure I'd like to try some character portrait cards. I'd love to be able to set them over my GM screen with a portrait on the front for my players to see and some info on the back to remind me, or maybe even hand them out to players who meet them in games that feature things like mysteries or political intrigue, where it's important for players to be able to recall the characters they meet.

That might be a whole 'nother project!

Thanks for reading!
